Case Client X

Woman 50 who earlier had been very active in looking for a job but hasn’t worked for 14 years. Registers for the project and states that the only thing she is interested in is to finish her training for a ECDL driving licence. We say OK but at the same time point out that it is important to join in the common meetings so that there is time for other things during the project. In the personal interview it came to light that she has earlier ”gone in the wall”, suffers from anxiety attacks, has problems with her neck and shoulders and also has problems with her twins who argue and the boy will not go to school. Otherwise she is health and capable of working. She refused to take off her quilted jacket and she had her handbag round her neck and held against her chest. The assessment in this case was that it was important for her to take her problems seriously but to try and get her to find a solution instead of agreeing that there were a lot of obstacles. To get her to see what is important in the different things and most of all to see what a job would mean to her and the advantages. For example, if there was a job, what would it mean to the children??? Would they take responsibility for their lives? Her fear that she would ”go in the wall” again was turned around to: You are lucky that you have been “in the wall”; perhaps you know how to avoid it next time. You will get to know the signs and be able to avoid it again. All conversations contain questions about how different things can lead towards the overall goal by having a job and being able to support yourself. Today she has a job and happy positive children. She still has pain in her neck and shoulders sometimes but she can live with this. “This is just something we all have so why grumble about it??? This process has taken about 5 months and been very favourable. Obviously it doesn’t always go this well.
