Sandis Volins (24)
Education: Bachelor degree in laws (University of Latvia), master degree studies in Academy of Culture.
Profession: Executive director in BSA Latvian committee
I started my career when I was third year student in University; my first work place was Division of copyrights and neighbouring rights in Ministry of Culture. At the beginning I didn’t have any experience in jurisprudence and I had never been working with law documents as well. There was a lot of work, salary was low, but this job offered me a lot of other opportunities, like, internship in Munich, regular business journeys etc. I had worked there for two years till I finished my studies. I don’t consider myself as very passionate student. I believe that I get more experience and knowledge by working practically not only by theoretical studies. But I also understand that I wouldn’t have possibility to work in Ministry of Culture and in BSA without my diploma as well.
When director of division left her job, I was offered to take her place. But already two month later the local committee of BSA offered me the place of executive director. I accepted it. Besides it, I am still working in Ministry of Culture as contract worker.
This autumn I finally have brought into being my dream – studies in Academy of Culture.
